Glossary of terms:

Mission: statement of what we do that is of value to our stakeholders Vision: statement of the future state of our organization as we execute our mission. (i.e. “We will be recognized as…… ) Can include “motto”

Strategic Direction Template: The sequence for successful strategy execution Key Mission Elements: Those critical elements of our core operational flow to achieve our mission and vision. “ Do” items, not metrics

Sequence Chart: One of the 7 Management and Planning tools used for group project planning and deployment.

Sequence Chart Creation Instructions: 1. Clarify the Objective of the Plan or Process. 2.

Brainstorm the steps required to achieve the objective.

3.

Capture Steps on removable notes (3x5) and randomly post on a wall chart.

4.

When brainstorming is complete, identify the Step that must be completed first. Place this first step on the upper left hand side of the wall chart. (A theoretical timeline runs from left to right.)

5.

Identify the second Step(s) that follow once the first step is complete. Place these Steps to the right of the first Step. Steps that are concurrent are placed in a vertical column. Repeat this for all Steps that follow.

6.

Calculate the cumulative start and end times for each Step in the right bottom corner of the Step card.

7.

Identify champion for each Step.

8.

Fill in calendar dates and create monitoring chart.
