Setting Sun Shawl
A shawl to make for someone who is in need of warmth, love and hugs. This shawl was designed for my mother-in-law who recently had to say farewell to her partner. I designed this shawl as I think most prayer shawls are too thick and too dull because they are mostly one stitch of a small pattern repeat. I wanted to create something elegant but easy to make. Crochet this showl for someone in need!

General information Skill level Easy, you should have experience with basic crochet stitches and shaping, and with small pattern repeats Special Stitches V stitch: (dc, ch1, dc) in same st 5sh(ell): dc 5 times into same st 7sh(ell): dc 7 times into same st Point: 2dc, ch3, 2dc Abbreviations Ch: chain stitch Sc: single crochet Dc: double crochet Sk: skip one stitch St: stitch
Notes This is an any yarn any gauge pattern. The size of the shawl will be altered by your choice of yarn and choice of hook size. I crochet very loose so I always downsize my hook size to get a certain stated gauge. You start off with making a basic triangular shawl, but as you add the border, it will grow into a bit of a batwing shaped shawl. Increases are made at the sides and at the point. Some of the pattern notes for the border will be very extensive, but you only need to remember this: in the V-stitches there will be shells made en vice versa and in a (dc, ch1, dc) group there will only be (dc, ch1, dc) Group Finished measurement Approximately 100cm wide Materials Yarn: approximately 400 mtrs of sock yarn (I used Mille Colori Socks & Lace Lang Yarns (1 skein)) Crochet hook size 4.5 mm or size needed to obtain preferred gauge
