Project Purpose –To improve traffic flow and reduce motorists delay. Proposed Improvements would decrease congestion and improve traffic operations in the vicinity of the interchange

Project Description –Innovative Interchange – Displaced Left-Turn (DLT) –First DLT in City of San Antonio –All improvements within existing Right of Way (ROW) (No additional ROW required) –Project Improvements Include: • Displaced left turns along SH 16 • Triple left turn lanes on Loop 1604 WB Frontage Rd • Signals, signing, pavement marking & channelization • Sidewalks & bicycle accommodations SH 16 at Loop 1604

Project Description
How does a DLT work? –Left turns at a traditional intersection occur in the middle of the road. –In a DLT, left turn traffic shifts to the far left side of the road. Left turns are “displaced” at a new crossover signal prior to the frontage road intersection.
