Wicomico County Assault with Firearm ****SUSPECT ARRESTED**** March 2, 2017 (SALISBURY, MD) – On Monday, February 27, 2017 at approximately 11:30 p.m. Troopers from the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack responded to the 1006 East Rd., Salisbury, Wicomico County, MD to investigate a reported shooting. Initial responding troopers, assisted by deputies with the Wicomico Sheriff’s Office discovered the victim Mr. Troy Smiley, of Salisbury, MD suffering from a life threatening gunshot wound to the face/head. Mr. Smiley was transported by ambulance to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, and later flown by helicopter to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, MD where he was treated for his injuries. Through the course of the investigation a suspect was identified as 27-year old Jermel Lee Moss of Salisbury, MD. Moss who is prohibited from owning a firearm due to prior convictions was charged with the below crimes, and is currently in custody at the Wicomico County Detention Center. *Attempted 1st degree murder *Attempted 2nd degree murder *Assault 1st degree *Assault 2nd degree *Regulated firearm illegal possession
* Reckless endangerment *Handgun on person *Firearm used/Felony violent crime *Firearm possession w/Felony conviction *Illegal possession of ammo
