The Saint Stephen Catholic School Show Choir is a club for students who desire additional musical training and performance opportunities. Students are offered parts such as solos, duets, ensemble singing and acting at SSCS concerts. The choir will be open to students in grades 4-8. We will practice Wednesday mornings at 6:50 a.m. beginning Aug. 31. Students may be dropped off at morning care. Moderator is Mr. Williams The St. Stephen Drama Club is a club for students who are interested in various drama games, activities, and techniques. This is a great club for future aspiring actors and actresses or for those students who would benefit from gaining some performance and presentation skills. The club will be open to students in grades 3-5. The club will meet twice per month after school from Sept. 8 – Dec. 1. Applications will go home in next week’s Tidbits. Moderators are Mrs. Stanley and Mrs. Maikowski. 4-H Youth Development Program (UF/IFAS Extension) uses a learn-by-doing approach to help youth gain the knowledge and skills they need to be responsible, productive citizens. This mission is accomplished by creating safe and inclusive learning environments, involving caring adults, and utilizing the expertise and resources of the University of Florida and the nationwide land grant university system.” 4-H is a unique educational program for boys and girls. It encourages diverse groups of youth to develop their skills and talents to the fullest. As 4-Hers, youth actively participate in activities, events, competitions, and projects that develop and strengthen life skills. Our 4-H group will be open to all students from grades 3-8. We will meet on Tuesdays from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. beginning Aug. 23. For a more information visit the web sites below. Club members practice a spirit of service in school, at home, and out in the community. A sprit of service is thinking about others before yourself, helping those in need, and selflessly giving your own time to others. S.O.S. Club members strive to inspire a spirit of service in their fellow classmates through a variety of volunteer opportunities. This year, the S.O.S. Club will be working with several community organizations, including The Ronald McDonald House, ECHO, Hillsborough County Animal Shelter, The Children’s Cancer Center of Tampa, and many more! Our events this year will include a variety of donation collection drives, crafting projects, and service projects within our own school. This club is open to students in grades 5-8. Moderators are Mrs. Sidelinger and Ms. Ragans. If you are interested, applications will be available in Mrs. Sidelinger’s room from 7:40 – 7:55 a.m. each day until Aug. 24. SSCS Student Council Members are voted to their positions by the student body of St Stephen Catholic School. As a member of SSCS Student Council, they promise to fulfill the duties of their office, promote school spirit and good citizenship amongst their fellow students. Student Council Meets twice a month during their lunch/recess period and are expected to assist with all Student Council sponsored events. Moderators are Mrs. Bohnart and Mrs. Garcia. National Junior Honor Society serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character, and Citizenship. The goal of NJHS is to build leaders and do service. We participate and coordinate many different activities throughout the school as well as individually. *Teacher recommendation required. The moderator is Mrs. Lambert and meetings take place twice a month her classroom. There is a $20 membership fee due for all recurring members as well as new inductees.
Little Flowers Club Information- A fun, flexible, faith-filled Catholic club for girls!! The Little Flowers Girls’ Club ® is a Catholic club for girls ages 5 and up that teaches virtues through scripture, saints’ biographies and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Based on the 1906 Catholic classic “The Catholic Girls’ Guide” by Fr. F.X. Lasance, and the spirituality of St. Thérése, the Little Flower of Liseux, this beautiful, authentically Catholic program, has delighted and instilled in our girls a love of our Catholic Faith for over 25 years. Our group, will be exclusive to SSCS young women in K-8th grade. It will be held bi-monthly on Tuesday's beginning September 20th from 3-4pm in Mrs. Actis' classroom (Pre-K 4). It will be lead by Mrs. Actis and Mrs. Hesselbach (SSCS parent). We may need more parent volunteers depending on interest. The cost to be a new member is is $23.50 (plus shipping) plus $20 yearly dues.
