What’s happening at Stonington High School? This past month at Stonington High School has been full of many activities such as Powder-puff, Homecoming, Food Drives/Food Packaging events, and many college applications. Powder-puff is an event where girls from each of the four grades form teams (separated by grade) and compete in a flag football tournament. This year’s winners were the Juniors. During the week leading up to the Homecoming our school had a spirit week (America Monday, Twin Tuesday, Jersey Wednesday, “Throwback” Thursday, Brown and White Friday). For the homecoming banner competition, in which each grade creates a banner around a chosen theme that promotes school spirit, the Seniors won. While the past to mentioned events have pitted the classes against each other in the quest to be the ultimate “Bear”, the next one brought everyone together for the common good. The event was a meal packaging event run by the students without borders club. The event was purposed to package meals that would be sent out to less fortunate areas of the world. Finally, the date of November first has come and gone, but not without stress for many seniors, this was the date that “early action” applications were due for many colleges.
