Former Republican Lt. Gov. Bill Ratliff Endorses Wendy Davis Re-Election to Senate District 10 Governor Ratliff’s Endorsement Reinforces Davis’ Broad Support From Independents and Fair-minded Republicans FORT WORTH – Today, former Republican Lt. Governor Bill Ratliff endorsed Sen. Wendy Davis for reelection in Senate District 10. Governor Ratliff’s endorsement further confirms that Wendy Davis is providing the commonsense leadership and mainstream sensibilities that voters in SD10 and across Texas want from elected officials. “In my fifteen years in the Texas Senate and two years as Lieutenant Governor, I have
witnessed many political candidates talk about their support for public education,” Governor Ratliff said. “ Far too many of those same people, once elected, turn out to be too timid in their advocacy for our schools and for adequate public education funding. I believe all partisanship should be left at the schoolhouse door.” “Although we belong to different political parties, I support Senator Wendy Davis because she has been unwavering in her advocacy for our public schools," Ratliff said in endorsing Davis for re-election. Ratliff’s endorsement today validates Wendy Davis’ effective support for Texas public school children and their families. Like Davis, Ratliff understands that Texas’ economic future is directly tied to its ability to create a well-educated workforce. In not endorsing fellow Republican Mark Shelton, Lt. Gov. Ratliff’ joins many other Republicans and Independents in Tarrant County who have rejected Shelton’s failed record on public education and his decision to jeopardize our state’s ability to create jobs and opportunities for middle class families and instead follow the narrow partisan priorities of political and lobby leaders in Austin. “I am honored by the endorsement of Governor Ratliff,” Davis said. “He understands that the future of our children and the hopes of middle class families should not fall victim to political partisanship. His concern and support for public education and the opportunities a good education provides for young Texans is the key to a strong economy and a bright future for Texas.” ###
