NATURE AT THE HEART OF OUR COMPANY Beautiful, natural and renewable: wood has seductive aesthetic and ecological qualities. This makes it an exceptional resource for construction and a precious material for interior design. It plays an essential role in maintaining the ecological balance of our ecosystem thanks to its capacity to absorb carbon dioxide emissions that are released into the atmosphere. Conscious of this unique responsibility, we are committed to designing products with the greatest respect for the environment.

SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT All of the timber we use undergoes a rigorous selection process. It is sourced from forests with strict cutting, reforestation and forestry management programmes. This commitment is monitored by independent supervisory bodies. All the products in this catalogue are PEFC certified. SUN COTTAGE is a signatory to the “Charte environnementale de l’achat et de la vente de bois” (French Environmental Charter for the Purchase and Sale of Timber).

ELIMINATION OF VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS (VOC) VOCs are natural and synthetic chemical substances that evaporate into the atmosphere and contribute to the greenhouse effect. They are particularly present in solvents. Regulations have been introduced to limit the use of organic solvents and other substances in finishing products (paint and varnishes) as a result of wider measures to protect the environment. SUN COTTAGE has taken this one step further by choosing to use aqueous phase finishing products that are solvent-free.

NON-RELEASE OF FORMALDEHYDE It is now possible to find out the formaldehyde content in materials thanks to a standard put in place in 2002. According to this standard, products labelled with emission class E1 have formaldehyde levels below the lowest threshold values (lower or equal to 8 mg per 100g of material). The products presented in this catalogue do not contain formaldehyde and therefore exceed the standard requirements.

CE MARKING CE marking is required for all products on the market that fall with the scope of the European Construction Products Directive (DPC/89/106/EEC) SUN COTTAGE dados comply with this directive and bear the CE marking.

Despite this, SUN COTTAGE has never considered offering or working with any other material since the company was founded. Our full commitment to the environment has always been clearly stated and visible through our actions. Polyethylene is a type of plastic with a high mechanical resistance. The “triple-coating» technology we use (3 layers of material) makes our floats extremely resistant. Polyethylene is also rot-proof and keeps water out. Frequently used in ports to support floating pontoons and berths.
