Abstract: What is innovation? Succeeding in laboratory works? Publishing academic papers in major science journals, or filing many patents? Originally innovation means technical progress and also new value creation for customers and society. Scientists and engineers are familiar with how numerous technological seeds may not turn out to be fruitful. Countless research projects have been terminated before bringing values to customers and making profit. On the other hand, Innovation is the key to drive economic growth and social betterment. Innovative technology may shake up existing industries, or even change the world when a new idea is brought to the market. Deploying the new technology seeds in customers’ site and creating new business model are essential phases in R&D management. Observed from Xerox Corporation historical experience, we can learn that path to successful implementation of innovative technology is always shrouded with many obstacles. To overcome them, we need great ideas and collaborations with various knowledge. Fuji Xerox initiatives active collaborations with outside partners to incubate innovation. Fuji Xerox will be seeking collaborations with academic entities in Asia to create new values to our customers.
