Quinn Stevenson hoped to become a sports broadcaster when he grew up. On Monday, weeks after his death in a two-vehicle collision, that dream was recognized in front of a national television audience. Stevenson, 17, was featured on Sportsnet prior to a Toronto Blue Jays game. The Saskatoon teen — an avid athelete and sports enthusiast who was enrolled in broadcasting college — died in a collision at the intersection of College Drive and Circle Drive earlier this month. Among the many tributes at his funeral earlier in the month was a surprise video message from TSN sportscaster Darren Dutchyshen. Police still haven’t released any details on the crash, but Quinn’s mother, Bonny, said in the weeks since Quinn’s death the outpouring of support for their family has been overwhelming. She doesn’t know how to explain the feeling of having her son’s story told on national television. Quinn played baseball, football, curling, badminton and hockey. He was the pitcher for the Saskatoon Blue Jays, who recently won the midget AA city championship. Donations to the Quinn Stevenson Memorial Athletic and Spirit Scholarship are being accepted at TD Canada Trust on Attridge Drive. © Copyright (c) The StarPhoenix
