CLASS TITLE: Testing Center Specialist/Proctor
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned administrator, perform specialized and complex computer based testing duties involving independent judgment and action within the Adult Education Testing Center. Requires in-depth training, certification, and coordination with the PearsonVUE Testing Program. Answer phones, provide technical information and greet and assist clients, staff and visitors. Assist in assuring smooth and efficient test center operations. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Perform specialized and complex duties involving independent judgment and action within a testing center and requiring in-depth knowledge of function of the program; assist in assuring smooth and efficient test center operations; establish and maintain professional and positive decorum with testing clients, staff, public, and with PearsonVUE support professionals. Greet and assist clients; initiate and receive telephone calls; take and relay messages; explain testing center program policies and procedures; provide technical information and interpretation concerning policies and procedures of testing program. Complete required steps for qualification to become a PearsonVUE Test Administrator and complete required annual training routines to register and deliver exams. Ensure that the correct processes required for incoming/exiting testing clients are conducted; support and assist clients with the steps required to complete registration information. Understand and use the tools and expertise required to effectively monitor the testing environment; utilize and maintain the “Enhanced Security Protocol” system, and maintain advanced security measures to ensure that the correct client takes the test and all clients test in a controlled and secure environment. Navigate the VUE Support System (VSS) website and utilize the remote 24/7 technology support. Input electronic or manual information into the proprietary PearsonVUE software; compile information and prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports related to assigned programs and activities; review and verify accuracy and completeness of various documents; establish and maintain filing systems; process and evaluate various forms as needed. Compose correspondence; type, format and process a variety of records and documents related to assigned activities such as letters, lists, memoranda, bulletins, reports, requisitions, flyers, forms or other materials from detailed or rough copy; input a variety of data into an assigned computer system; maintain automated records and files; initiate queries and generate a variety of computerized lists and reports as requested; assure accuracy of input and output client and service data; maintains Board Approval: June 9, 2015

quality control/security system standards of the test center environment, including hundreds of exams; file incident reports immediately as needed. Operate a variety of office equipment including a calculator, copier, fax machine, computer and assigned software. Communicate with personnel and outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns. Monitor inventory levels of test center supplies; order, receive and assure adequate inventory levels of test center supplies.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF: Modern office practices, procedures and equipment. Policies and objectives of assigned programs and activities. Record-keeping and report preparation techniques. Telephone techniques and etiquette. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. Operation of a computer and assigned software. Methods of collecting and organizing data and information. Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Basic math. ABILITY TO: Perform specialized and complex testing center duties involving independent judgment and action with little direct supervision. Answer telephones and greet the public courteously. Assist in assuring smooth and efficient testing center operations. Interpret, apply and explain applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations. Maintain records and prepare reports. Operate a variety of office equipment including a computer and assigned software. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Type and input data at an acceptable rate of speed. Compose correspondence and written materials independently or from oral instructions. Complete work with many interruptions. Maintain confidentiality of client information/records. Add, subtract, multiply and divide quickly and accurately. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years clerical experience involving frequent public contact. WORKING CONDITIONS: ENVIRONMENT: Indoor office/computer lab environment. Constant interruptions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard. Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Seeing to read a variety of materials. Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to file materials. Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects. Reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontally. Assisting handicapped students as assigned by the position.
