Mrs. Cook Reviewed and Desegregated data -needs assessment data, student, parent, and staff surveys, demographic, and assessment data (NWEA, MAP, and Rigby, CPAA ) Demographic data indicated that enrollment was down by 40 students from last year and transient rate up slightly. The transient rate has fluctuated the past five years as high as 57% four years ago to 29% this year. This is due to several factors including the oil industry and availability of low income housing. Assessment data indicated : 51% students proficient in math and 63% proficiency in reading in grades 2-5 Students in grade 1 were at or above average in both math and reading based on CPAA and above the district average Students in Kindergarten were slightly below district average in reading and math scores Attendees discussed possible reasons and solutions to current data. The reading vocabulary strand had increased slightly which was the focus of last years reading goal. Consensus was to continue to focus on vocabulary for a goal next year using the same activities along with a new reading curriculum, Benchmark Success and 90 minute uninterrupted reading block. Numbers and operations and geometry were lower strands. We will continue the math series along with supplemental number sense routines taken from the Number Sense book study to continue focus on number and operations. Next year we will continue with a non fiction writing goal with more emphasis on the use of rubrics in assessing student writing. There was emphasis across the district based on data on Trauma Sensitive Schools. A social emotional goal is put in place for next year in our building. A curriculum, Second Step will be used in addressing and assessing this goal. Positive parent teacher communication is an objective that is included in this goal. Classrooms will continue to have at least one parent event for
their classroom and parents during the year. It was included in last years goal and teachers felt it was definitely something they will continue. Next years goals are: #1 All students will show growth in vocabulary knowledge #2 All students will show growth in basic math skills focus on numbers and operations. #3 Students will show growth in nonfiction writing #4 Students will show an awareness and application of improved social, emotional strategies Our student, parent, surveys reflected an ongoing strength of a dedicated and caring staff.
