School and Community    

Public high school, grades 9-12, with a current student enrollment of approximately 2,080. ThunderRidge High School (TRHS) is one of 12 high schools in the Douglas County School District. The school calendar is comprised of two 18-week sessions, totaling 173 days in length. Douglas County School District is the third largest in the state, serving more than 61,000 students. It is located to the south of the Denver Metropolitan Area, and includes Castle Rock, Sedalia, Parker, Highlands Ranch and portions of Littleton.

Faculty and Staff  120 staff members are dedicated to providing an optimal educational environment for TRHS students.  68% of the faculty has earned masters or doctorate degrees in their specified content areas.  5 school counselors provide students with support services.

Class of 2017 Data  The Class of 2017 had 486 students.  84.3% of the Class of 2017 are attending college.  71.9% at a four-year college  12.4% at a two-year college or career education school  2.3% of students chose to enlist with the military

Grading System  All courses that receive a letter grade are calculated into the grade point average on a 4.0 scale.  Grades in Honors courses are not weighted. Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses are weighted as indicated by * on transcript. Both weighted and unweighted GPA and class rank are indicated on the transcript.

Advanced Placement & International Baccalaureate Advanced Placement courses are offered in 22 subject areas, and International Baccalaureate courses are offered in 15 subject areas. Due to enrollment, some AP and IB courses are not available for students to take every year. There is no limit to the number of AP courses a student can take, however, scheduling restraints may prevent some students from taking every AP course available. All IB students are required to take courses in the six core subject areas.  2017 – 19 Diploma Candidates with 95% receiving diploma, exam pass rate with a 4 or higher: 87%  2016 – 21 Diploma Candidates with 81% receiving diploma, exam pass rate with a 4 or higher: 85%  2015 – 21 Diploma Candidates with 81% receiving diploma, exam pass rate with a 4 or higher: 86%
