FOLLOWING THE MESSAGE 1) Convictions lead to courageous action and courage is contagious! CONVICTION HAS PURPOSE 2) 21:1 Paul acted in the purpose of God, even though it was incredibly hard. CONVICTION IS NOT DIVERTED 3) 21:4 Was the Spirit of God telling them Paul should not go when the same Spirit was telling Paul to go?

CONVICTION INSPIRES 11) 21:14 Instead of the believers’ fears affecting Paul, his courage motivated them. Do I care enough about the Mission of God to confront? to invest in it? to risk the relationship?

4) 21:4 This incident demonstrates a contrast in maturity level among believers: the same information is available, but how you see it and understand it makes all the difference. 5) 21:4 Paul lived a life sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading and developed a long-term pattern of obedience to God’s direction (Acts 16:6–7; 19:21; 20:22). The Holy Spirit’s message to Paul was a forewarning, not a prohibition. 6) 21:5 Neither the threat of persecution nor the best intentions of well-meaning believers could divert Paul from his mission. 7) 21:10-11 Unlike the less mature Christians at Tyre, Agabus did not urge Paul to avoid Jerusalem. His prophecy prepared Paul for what was to come, assuring him of God’s presence in the events. 8) 21:12 We must expect that our family and friends will attempt to dissuade us from exposing ourselves to contempt, hostility, and danger. CONVICTION PAYS ANY PRICE 9) 21:13 If in this moment Paul had any conflict, it was not over whether or not to go; it was the prospect of separation from his friends that was breaking his heart. 10) 21:13 From unshakable conviction comes resolute courage.
