Overview: During this content theme children will learn about purposes for different building materials and tools used to construct buildings. Inquiry Questions: 

What are the different types of buildings and structures we see every day? Why do people use bricks or wood to build? What are the different tools and vehicles workers use?

Take a walk through your neighborhood and talk about attributes (sizes and shapes) of buildings (tall, short, wide, square, rectangle)



Use circles, squares and rectangles to draw different types of buildings.



Build structures with materials in your home (paper plates, cereal boxes, oatmeal containers, lunch bags). Label the structures with signs like gas station, etc.



Paint your name with water on the sidewalk and talk about the attributes of the letters (circles, sticks, curves)



Read construction books and talk about the pictures
