SOUTHERN FIXED WING AND LARGE TRANSPORT AIRCRAFT SOUTHERN AREA FIXED WING AIRCRAFT AGENCY AIRCRAFT The USFS currently has two fixed wing aircraft N181Z and N182Z that are used for fire missions, photographic work and administrative flights. EXCLUSIVE-USE AIRCRAFT Currently there are no Exclusive-Use fixed wing aircraft on contract in the Southern Area. Note: Contact SACC for updates to this. LARGE TRANSPORT FIXED WING AIRCRAFT Currently there are no Large Transport Fixed Wing Aircraft in the Southern Area. Note: Contact SACC for updates to this. SOUTHERN AREA CWN FIXED WING AIRCRAFT Note: Contact SACC for current listings. TACTICAL AIRCRAFT LEADPLANES Refer to the National Mobilization Guide – Lead planes and Pilots. The Southern Area has one Lead Plane N181Z. AERIAL SUPERVISION MODULES (ASM) ASM combines the capabilities of a lead plane with an Air Attack platform. N181Z has been designated by the USFS R-8 Regional Aviation Officer as an ASM capable platform. The BLM has one positioned in Houston, TX (TME). SACC is the designated dispatch office for these aircraft. (Note: Unless there is a special exemption letter in place at the time, USFS Air Tactical Group Supervisors (ATGS) cannot be substituted in ASM. ATGS placed in ASM platforms must have obtained ASM qualified status. AIR ATTACK AIRCRAFT There are numerous Southern Area CWN Aircraft presently carded for Air Attack Missions. Note: Contact SACC for current listings. FEDERAL AIRTANKERS The primary mission of federally contracted large fixed-wing airtankers is initial attack operations. The SACC will prioritize and allocate federal airtankers by positioning them in Areas of current or predicted high wildfire danger or activity. Note: Contact SACC for additional information.
