DIGITAL ARTS STUDIOS BA GRADUATE RESIDENCY AWARD 2017
In association with Ulster University, the Digital Arts Studios is awarding a fourmonth residency to one BA graduate. The residency offers the selected artist time to work on a specific project of their choice, develop their skills and artistic practice. The BA Graduate Residency will run from October 2017 to January 2018 inclusive. Working from your personal iMAC workstation alongside a group of peers, the shared residents’ studio space at DAS provides a productive and dynamic artistic environment, with additional support available from staff to help realise the aims of your residency. The residencies are designed for full participation over the entire four-month period.

How to apply Students should complete the relevant online form and submit application materials at https://digitalartsstudios.com/residencies/ba-award. Applicants must inform tutors of their interest to ensure the DAS panel consider relevant end of year exhibits. The deadline for applications is midnight on Sunday the 28th of May.
What to include: Application Materials Artist Bio and Project Summary Applicants must provide a brief artist biography and summary of the project you propose to work on during the residency [100 words max. each]. Resume Applicants must provide a single paged resume describing your academic, artistic and other relevant experience. PLEASE NOTE: The artist bio, project summary and resume should be combined and uploaded in the CV section. Detailed Project Proposal & Timeline Expand on your proposed residency project, listing the mediums employed, and broadly outline your weekly execution plan. Describe your level of knowledge in the processes employed, and outline any specific technical or support requirements. [500 words max.]
Selection Residents are selected by impartial adjudicators on the artistic merit of their application and end of year show. In addition to artistic merit, consideration will be given as to whether the artist's practice is likely to benefit from the programme.
What are the facilities? The successful applicants will have their own personal iMAC workstation programmed with relevant software such as Final Cut Pro X and Adobe CS6. You will have 24-hour access to the shared studios, access to a range of equipment (DSLRs, video & sound recording equipment), and technical support and advice from staff during office hours. Award winners are exempt from studio rent, equipment hire and workshop fees.
Requirements for successful applicants 1. Successful applicants will be required to adhere to the DAS Terms of Residency & Code of Conduct, which will be provided once an artist is selected. 2. Residents may be asked to participate in a short 5-minute interview at the beginning and end of their residency. 3. Successful applicants are required to provide DAS with a copy of the work created whilst participating in the residency, to be held in the public DAS archive. Copyright remains with the artist. 4. Residents are also required to take part in an evaluation of the residency and to complete a form of brief post-project report. 5.
