Virginia Caregiver Coalition Our MISSION The VCC will work passionately to improve the experience of caregiving through education, advocacy and access to resources.
Our VISION All Virginia caregivers will be valued, respected, and supported and will have easy access to information, education and services.
Who are we?
We started with 22 founding members in 2004 to the current 150+ members in 2016. Our members consist of disability and aging community agency staff, state agency employees, family caregivers, and university and independent researchers. Virginia received a Lifespan Respite Grant from the Administration on Aging in 2011 to support respite services for family caregivers. This grant continues to enhance the VCC’s caregiver support efforts across the lifespan. Recent presentations have included: Caregiver Depression, Kinship Care, Medicaid Waivers, Volunteer Respite, Caring for Veterans and Their Caregivers, Art and Dementia, Care Transitions, Abuse/Neglect, Recovery and Resilience, Starting a Support Group, PACE Programs, Elder Law Issues for Caregivers, Caring for the Caregiver, Early Alzheimer’s Support and Education (EASE), and Chronic Disease Self-Management Education (CDSME) for Caregivers.
What do we do?
We meet every other month for networking, training, education, and resource sharing. Meetings are conducted from numerous public video sites across the state using a polycom teleconferencing system that includes two-way visual and audio reception. This means you can participate from the site most convenient for you.
