Candidates Forum The City will tape and replay a Candidate’s Debate for Ojai City Council and Mayor, set for 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, September 8 at Soule Park. The event is being sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the Ojai Valley Board of Realtors. It will be replayed on Channel 10; replay schedule to be announced. City Hall Closed Monday Reminder, City Hall and other City offices will be closed Monday, September 5 to observe Labor Day. After school program thru Rec The Ojai Recreation Department is pleased to announce that we are operating an afterschool program at Topa Topa and Meiners Oaks Elementary for the 2016-2017 school year. The program is for Kindergarten – 6th grade students and runs Monday – Friday; 12:45 – 5:30 pm at a very low cost of $10 per day. On-line registration is encouraged and accepted on the Ojai Recreation Department’s Website: ojairec.com. Between the two sites, we are currently serving 60 – 70 participants. Building Official Transition The City is going through a transition with its contract building and inspection services. As of September 1, 2016 the City is contracting with a new firm, Charles Abbott and Associates, to provide temporary building official, building inspection, plan check and other related services to the City. A contract for continued services will be presented to the City Council for consideration on September 13. There will be no interruption of services to the public. Cultural Resources Committee The Cultural Resources Committee will next meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, September 12 at Ojai City Hall. The public is encouraged to attend and participate. An agenda will be posted to the City website in advance of the meeting. Ojai Valley Green Coalition Cleanup Day On Saturday September 17 the Ojai Valley Green Coalition (OVGC) will host its annual creek clean-up day in conjunction with California Coastal Cleanup Day. Volunteers will spread out along Ojai Creek running through Libbey Park to pick up trash and possibly clean up in the barranca across Montgomery Street. Those who wish to participate can register at the OVGC booth in the lower Libbey tennis courts parking lot.

Ojai Day The deadline for vendor applications for Ojai Day 2016 was September 1. Applications received after that date will be charged a 10% late submission fee. For the first time since 2012, the Ojai Avenue Primary area sold out prior to the September 1 deadline. There is still space available in the Ojai Avenue Secondary area and Libbey Park. Libbey Bowl This weekend the Libbey Bowl will host two events. The Ojai Film Society will be showing Close Encounters of the Third Kind. On Sunday, The Zombies will invade with their timeless harmonies. Tickets for each of these events can be purchased at the gate on the day of the event.
