The Wrenn School has created an amazing fundraising idea and town project They have designed a huge tapestry of the Wellingborough town crest surrounded by images that are important to the town. Added to this is our Cancer Research UK logo. Their idea is to encourage people to donate to personally stitch a few stitches into this tapestry. They have divided it up and if everyone donates a minimum of 50p, they will raise £30,000 pounds! Everyone placing stitches gets a certificate saying that they have and confirmation as to where on the tapestry their stitches are.
Wrenn School Community Project 2013 A LEARNING BEACON IN WELLINGBOROUGH
Mrs Lizzie Melivn
Cancer research representative
The completed tapestry is being presented to the town at Christmas and will be publically displayed from then onwards. The extra twist is this is that our logo is going to be stitched by cancer survivors. The idea is that it will help to show in a very visible way just how many people are now surviving cancer and give hope to others. If you would like to book your chance to stitch your way into history, please do get in touch with Sam Mallett. Because it is such a good idea that could be replicated by others, Sam has very kindly agreed to name her fundraising idea and to donate it to us for others to use as a fundraising tool. She is collating all the information as to what they had to do, to organise and to find, so that others will be able to follow in their footsteps more easily. Thank you Sam! If you think that this would be a great idea for your town/ village/school/club/company, then please do get in touch with Sam for her guidance. Please, do send this message far and wide! We need a lot of stitchers to make this happen! All the best
Lizzie
