WOODLAWN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 2016-2017 TITLE I PARENT-SCHOOL COMPACT Corpus Christi Independent School District Every student a learner…Every learner a graduate…Every graduate a success! The purpose of the Woodlawn Parent-School Compact is to communicate a common understanding of school and home responsibilities to ensure that all students receive the highest quality of education possible. This agreement is a promise to work together to reach the highest standards possible for Woodlawn students. Together we can work to improve teaching and learning for all. As a parent/caregiver I will: Ensure my child attends school daily and arrives on time. Attend parent-teacher conferences. Talk to my child about his/her school activities. Incorporate math problem solving activities at home. Set aside a quiet place to complete homework and assist as needed. Respect, love and encourage my child’s educational growth and ideas. Encourage and require proper behavior, including adherence to the student code of conduct and the dress code. Treat campus and district staff with dignity and respect at all times. Ensure my child participates in and completes all assigned work in a quality and timely manner. Support my child’s education by asking questions, volunteering, and getting involved. Support the District’s Wellness Goals that promote and encourage proper nutrition and exercise to positively influence the health of students and community members. Support, model, and reinforce Character First Education Curriculum. Support CCISD Civility Initiative with a focus on deleting profanity and bullying. Review the blue Woodlawn Communication Folder contents and return it with your child(ren) each Friday. Provide a safe and enriched learning environment. Maintain an open line of communication with students and parents by respectfully informing parents of their child’s progress and notifying students and parents of school events and activities within a reasonable timeframe. Send home the blue Woodlawn Communication Folder consistently each Thursday. Respect and value the uniqueness of each child and his/her family. Provide engaging experiences in my classroom along with opportunities to use higher order thinking skills. Incorporate problem solving in daily activities. Engage students in investigations to enhance learning in science and math. Provide positive reinforcement so that each child enjoys school and feels motivated to learn. Participate in developing the 40 Developmental Assets that create a positive environment for young people and allow them to fully engage with and function in the world around them. Hold myself and my students accountable for maintaining an environment of self-respect and respect for others. Participate in ongoing professional development. Abide by CCISD Civility Initiative with a focus on deleting profanity and bullying. Support, model, and reinforce Character First Education Curriculum.
