Additional Dress Code Guidelines
Jewelry may be worn so long as it does not present a safety hazard. No large or dangling jewelry of any kind, including earrings and medallions. Hoop earrings should not be larger than a nickel. Anything worn on the wrist, i.e. bracelets, watches, etc. should not exceed two (2) total. NOT PERMITTED: Tattoos (including washable/removable tattoos), sweatbands. Note: Teachers/staff are not responsible for loss or theft of jewelry.
Hairstyles/Makeup/Nails
Hair must be neat and clean. NOT PERMITTED: Unconventional colors or hairstyles causing distractions ie.mohawks or faux hawks, makeup, dark nail or glitter polish.
Consequences
Reminder notice and/or student calls the parent to bring a change of clothes. (If available, student will return to class wearing clothing provided by the school until change of approved clothing is brought to school.) Habitual dress code offenders will be assigned afterschool detention and it will reflected in your child’s conduct grade..

Woodlawn Elementary School In order to enhance and encourage school pride, pride in personal appearance, self-respect, respect for others and to ensure student success, all students attending Woodlawn Elementary School will be required to follow the district standardized dress code. Students must adhere to dress code policy. In summary: no tank tops, no sleeveless shirts or blouses; all shorts/skirts must be of appropriate length. Athletic shoes should be worn to insure your child’s safety.

Woodlawn Standardized Dress Code Guidelines Outerwear
Pants Woodlawn Jaguars making tracks for success!
Any solid colored jeans, pants or slacks are required, minimal decoration. Standard cut slacks and jeans , neatly hemmed (no cut or frayed pants) and fitted to waist, crotch, legs and ankles (wear a belt if necessary). NOT PERMITTED: bleached jeans, nylon, mesh, spandex, baggy pants or legging type pants, sweat pants, and pants with rips, holes, or tears.
Shoes
The goals of the Woodlawn Elementary Standardized Dress Code are to increase school pride, prevent disruption and a personal sense of belonging to a school that sets high expectations for all students.
Dresses, Skirts, Skorts, and Jumpers
Must fit appropriately All shirts should be long enough to cover the full back when seated yet be no longer than the fingertips, else tucked in. All Woodlawn or King VLC spirit shirts and organization shirts or uniforms are permitted. ie. Boys Scout or Girl Scout uniforms . NOT PERMITTED: tank tops, halter tops, sleeveless shirts, muscle shirts, see-through clothing , off the shoulder shirts, shirts with spaghetti straps, or shirts which expose the midriff area.
Tights may be with dresses, skirts and jumpers.. Appropriate length --- same as walking shorts (see back panel). Shorts under skirts are strongly recommended.
Shirts Shorts
Must be neatly hemmed and fitted to waist. Short length must follow district guidelines for all students.(see back panel). NOT PERMITTED: tight-fitted shorts, biker shorts, baggy shorts, or tights worn alone.
NOTE: All clothes should fit appropriately. No tight-fitting attire will be permitted.
Athletic shoes are strongly recommended to ensure your child’s safety. NOT PERMITTED: open toe shoes, open heel shoes, slaps, platform shoes, shoes with heels exceeding one inch, tennis shoes with wheels.
Caps and Hats
Pullover/zipper sweatshirts and sweaters are permitted. Sweatshirts should not be longer than the finger tips. Hoods on jackets may be worn outdoors only.
Caps and hats may be worn outside only; may not be worn indoors. Exception: schoolsponsored event days. NOT PERMITTED: bandanas or scarves that cover the head., (exception may be granted by administrator for health, religious or school activity reasons).
