Dress Code 2015-2016 Students are expected to dress appropriately. Clothing should be neat, clean, tasteful and modest. Footwear must be worn at all times. If a student's attire or appearance is judged to be disruptive, unsafe, offensive, or unhealthy, the student regardless of race, color, religious, national ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, age, or disability will be asked to correct the situation. If the student is unable or unwilling to correct the situation, the parent/guardian will be notified, and the student may be required to remain in the office and/or sent home to correct the situation. The Pomona High School Dress Code Committee and Student Council members established a dress code that prohibits students from wearing the following items while at Pomona High School (including, but not limited to): 1. Hats, bandanas, caps, headbands, hairnets, sunglasses (non-prescription) or masks at any time. 2. Clothing with with profane, obscene language or offensive symbols, including, but not limited to, drug, alcohol or tobacco symbols or messages of implied or explicit sexual content. 3. Athletic garments with altered logos. 4. Clothing that does not cover undergarments or is overly revealing. Straps on shirts and dresses need to be three fingers or wider. 5. No open back, halter, bare midriffs, or off the shoulder shirts. No see-through or sheer clothing. Short-shorts or over revealing skirts and not permitted. All attire must cover the following: backs, abdomens, breasts, backsides and undergarments. 6. Hazardous articles of clothing or accessories that is likely to injure the wearer or someone else. These include, but are not limited to, any spiked jewelry or apparel. No chains of any kind will be permitted on clothing or accessories. 7. Clothing or bags displaying threatening or offensive symbols. Emblems and/or badges that promote drug, alcohol or tobacco use, violence, disruptive behavior, discrimination, intimidation, or any criminal behavior. 8. Trench coats or dusters. 9. Any other items deemed inappropriate by the administration or discipline committee. Students at Pomona High School will dress appropriately for school attendance and activities in a way that reflects personal pride and workplace appropriateness. In addition, dress code must be followed on spirit days as well as holidays.
