ST. BRENDAN SCHOOL 2017-18 DRESS CODE BOYS SHIRTS All shirts are to be solid and with no emblems or additional stitching. Shirts must be long enough to stay tucked in all day. Short sleeve, solid white t-shirt can be worn under uniform shirt. K-5 White dress Oxford style shirt, long or short sleeve White or Cardinal Red polo-long or short sleeve White or Cardinal Red knit turtleneck 6-8 Hunter Green polo-long or short sleeve GIRLS SHIRTS All shirts are to be solid and with no emblems or additional stitching. Shirts must be long enough to stay tucked in all day. Short sleeve, solid white t-shirt can be worn under uniform shirt. Collars can be pointed or peter pan style. No additional ruffles or embroidery on the collar, sleeves, or placket. K-5 White dress Oxford style shirt White or Cardinal Red polo-long or short sleeve White or Cardinal Red knit turtleneck 6-8 Hunter Green polo-long or short sleeve BOYS/GIRLS PANTS Dress Docker-style slacks are required. K-5 Solid navy blue Solid black 6-8 Solid khaki The following is NOT ALLOWED: -Straps -Low riders -Jeans -Rivets -Metal buttons on pockets -Cargo Pants -Extra zippers -Contrasting stitching -Draw String Pants -Only minimal stitching on pockets is acceptable -Stretch material or intentionally tight fitting pants -Holes, rips, or tears BOYS/GIRLS SHORTS Walking shorts(knee-length), skorts, or Capri length (no cargo or drawstring) may be worn from August to October 15 and in May. Shorts must meet all other requirements as pants (see above).

BOYS/GIRLS SOCKS (required) Solid white Solid navy Solid black Ankle length or footed tights or leggings (white, navy, or black) may be worn under uniform skirts or dresses SHOES Tennis shoes or solid colored dress shoes only. Tennis shoes must be at the ankle or below the ankle. Shoes must have closed toe and heel. The following shoes are NOT ALLOWED at any time: -Sandals -Clogs -Light Up Shoes -Jellies -Flip-flops -Toe Shoes Boots are only allowed during inclement weather when snow or ice is on the ground or on casual clothes day. SWEATSHIRTS St. Brendan sweatshirt (order from school in fall) Solid navy blue Solid black SWEATERS All sweaters are to be full-length, solid with no emblems. Cardigan, v-neck, or pullover sweater may be worn over the uniform shirt or white oxford style button up shirt. Navy Blue or White K-5 Hunter Green 6-8 Sweater Vest: Cardinal Red or Navy K-5 Hunter Green 6-8 BELTS (optional) Belts must be a solid color with no studding, rhinestones, or embellishments. Buckles must be plain and no bigger than the width of the belt. Navy blue Black Brown HAIR ACCESSORIES Plain accessories such as headband, ribbon, clip, or scrunchie that coordinate with uniform. Use only uniform colors: designated uniform plaid, navy, black, brown, cardinal red, hunter green, or white. No extra embellishments. Hair accessories are not to be worn on wrists. JEWELRY AND MISCELLANEOUS Pierced ears: small, plain stud-type earrings that do not hang below the ear. Only girls are allowed to wear earrings. One wrist watch Religious medal on a gold or silver chain worn inside shirt/blouse Hats are not allowed inside No temporary tattoos No rings or bracelets No nail polish
Updated August 2017 PHYSICAL EDUCATION School uniform Tennis shoes *PE teacher may allow other attire at his/her discretion. MONDAY SHIRTS Monday shirts designed for that school year may be worn on Mondays with uniform pants, shorts, or skirts. Students may wear a long or short sleeve white undershirt with Monday shirts. HOUSE SHIRTS 5th-8th Grades House shirts may be worn on Wednesdays with uniform pants, shorts, or skirts. Students may wear a long or short sleeve white undershirt with House shirts. SPECIAL MASS DAYS AND ATHLETIC EVENT DAYS Students participating in their class’s special mass day or in a St. Brendan School sponsored athletic event may wear dress clothes. No jeans or casual clothes. Clothing is expected to be respectable. No tank tops or spaghetti strap tops may be worn even as an outer garment. Skirts and dresses must be knee length. No tight fitting or stretch clothes allowed. CASUAL CLOTHES DAYS Casual clothes days will be held at the discretion of the Principal and will be announced in the weekly newsletter. Students do not have to wear the school uniform on casual clothes days. Clothing is expected to be respectable. No tank tops or spaghetti strap tops may be worn as an outer garment. T-shirts with inappropriate art, wording, or innuendo will not be allowed. No tight fitting or stretch clothes allowed. Shorts, and Capri length pants may be worn from August to October 15 and in May. Requirements for length must be followed. Jewelry must follow uniform code. Shoes must have closed toe and heel. Because no dress code can cover all contingencies, appropriateness will be at the discretion of the Principal whose decision will be final.
