T H E SCH O OL A N D T H E COM M U N I T Y York H igh School is a public school serving students in grades 9-12 residing in the town of York, M aine. It is accredited by the N ew England Association of Schools and Colleges and the State of M aine Department of Educational and Cultural Services. Built in 1977, York H igh School is set on 72 acres of land one quarter mile from the Atlantic O cean. T he town of York is a steadily growing community, having nearly doubled in size from 1970 to a population of 14,000 today. T his seaside community is located approximately 10 miles north of N ew H ampshire and 25 miles north of M assachusetts providing the York school community a close proximity to a variety of employers and industry in the region.
