Tenā koutou Many thanks to Kay Lilley, Margo Crawford, Sarah Harmon and Jill Marriott who worked above and beyond to write and produce the wonderful ’50 years of memories at Redwood School’. The book is awesome, a great record of the past 50 years. Thanks to the many people who contributed their memories and photos. The launch is being held next week and will be a time to listen to more stories, share a laugh and begin to read this lovely book. Thanks to Paula for your organisation of the event. Copies are available to order from the school office ($30:00) and will also be stocked at Paper Plus and Tawa Library. Our thanks for all your support of Ginny Gordon and her family over the last while. It is a difficult time and she and her family appreciate everyone’s good wishes. After my ‘incident’ a month ago, a group of students from R18 asked if they could support the Wellington Free Ambulance. Therefore we have the Onesie and PJ Day tomorrow. We are asking students to donate a gold coin (or more) to this wonderful cause. The 19th of September is International Talk Like a Pirate Day and to celebrate we will have our next house event. Students are asked to dress as a pirate, we will have a house session with some great activities and a shared lunchtime for the whole school in the hall. Aaaarrrraaggghhh! Tawa Goes to Town practises are well underway, the show will be performed at the Michael Fowler Centre on September 20th. Congratulations to all the performers you are working hard, we are looking forward to a great show. It is with sadness that I announce that Michelle Hedge will be leaving us at the end of the term. After four years of driving down from the Kapiti Coast she has secured a position at St Patrick’s School in Paraparaumu and begins there next term. We wish her all the best and thank her for all her efforts here at Redwood. Our thanks for your support with the NZEI meeting to be held on 12 September. The last union meeting held in class time for teachers was in 2012. We understand that this causes disruption to families and is not a decision taken lightly. As a staff we believe that these meetings send a clear message to the government that we believe these future decisions are not in the best interests of children. Congratulations to all swimmers who represented us so well at the Wellington Zone event on Tuesday - great job. Sue Goodin Principal [email protected]
