Dear NHS Sophomore & Freshman Students/Parents/Guardians: On Tuesday, April 11, our sophomores and freshmen will be taking the PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test). Sophomores and freshmen will report at 7:20 a.m. for PSAT testing and conclude at approximately 11:15 a.m. on April 11. Busses will run at regular morning times and depart after testing at 11:30 a.m. for sophomores and freshmen. The PSAT has a number of purposes. First, it is practice for students who will take the SAT, which is a test many colleges require for admission. Secondly, the results are used for state and school/district accountability. Finally, and maybe most importantly, NHS will use these results to analyze and improve curriculum/instruction as well as help determine needed interventions for individual students. With these purposes in mind, it is very important that all NHS freshmen and sophomores take the PSAT on April 11 and they do their very best. Participation rates and achievement results on state testing are vital to NHS and our school district. Just a reminder…On Wednesday (April 12) and Thursday (April 13) only juniors will be state testing in days 2 and 3 of the Michigan Merit Exam. Freshman, sophomores, and seniors will join the juniors for the remainder of the day on April 12 and April 13 with an adjusted class schedule. Class report times on these two days is at 11:20 a.m. for all students. Busses will run exactly four hours behind the regular morning times on April 12 and April 13. Please see the schedule provided for a visual of the testing period, daily schedule, and bus schedule. Note that 1B and 2B classes will meet on April 12 and 3B and 4B classes will meet on April 13. If you have any questions about the PSAT testing or the schedule, please contact Counselor Lisa Sadikot at 248-344-3813, Assistant Principal Melissa Provo at 248-344-3816, or Principal Tony Koski at 248-344-3824. Sincerely,
