Purpose: To comply with the requirements of the NC Department of Labor regulation and the OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard. Policy: ADHD employees will follow the protocols as detailed in the Respiratory Protection Program Plan.

Procedure: 1. All employees except Environmental Health Staff will be required to undergo Fit Testing and Respiratory Protection Training annually. Environmental Health staff can volunteer for testing and training. 2. All employees who are required to use a respirator will complete a Medical Evaluation Questionnaire prior to being tested for the first time. The questionnaire will only need to be completed again if the employee has lost or gained a significant amount of weight, or had any dental or facial surgery that could alter the shape of the face. 3. The Medical Evaluation Questionnaire is reviewed by the Medical Director who determines if a follow-up exam is needed and if the employee is able to be fit tested. 4. The Medical Evaluation Questionnaire is filed in the employee’s medical chart. 5. The Medical Approval and Fit Testing Form is signed by the Medical Director to indicated ability to be tested and contains the Fit Testing results information. This form is kept on file, locked, in the CD/Preparedness Coordinator’s office. 6. Employees who are not able to be fit tested will be given job duties that will not put them at risk of respiratory hazards during a public health disaster that has a potential for respiratory hazards.
