Summer, 2017 Dear Students and Parents, Welcome to the 6th Grade! We hope that your summer is going well. This letter contains important information that will help you prepare for our year together. Please read it carefully and do your best to come to school raring to go for what we believe will be an exciting and challenging year at Westbrook Middle School. SUPPLIES: This list contains recommended items. Please follow it closely as we have used our collective years of experience in preparing it. This is a basic list with the intent to keep the costs per student as low as possible. Please note that additional supplies may be required for your child’s Unified Arts classes later in the year.              

Pencils/erasers – Please remember to resupply during the school year!! Ballpoint pens (blue or black, and red) four 1” 3-ring binders and paper pencil pouch (preferably one that zips up) colored pencils calculator (solar, please) READING BOOK! Small pair of scissors Four large book covers Hand-held pencil sharpener Pocket folder for foreign language glue stick (optional) ruler (optional) fine point Sharpie (optional)

Each 6th grade student will have a laptop computer assigned to them at the start of the school year. Remember, an up-to-date physical (within the last 2 years) is required for students to participate in school sports. Fall sports available to 6th Graders are cross-country, soccer or field hockey. Sport approvals from your physician can be faxed to the school at 854-1568. Make sure your child is ready to participate! We’re sure you have many questions. We will spend a lot of time, right off the bat, making sure you feel at home on your new team. We also invite and encourage all parents to attend our Middle School’s Open House on Thursday, September 14th. Enjoy your summer vacation and don’t forget to read!!
