Leigh Baildham presents a cheque to Alex Adam and Fabrice Laws
Parent Portal WMG Academy’s Parent Engagement Portal launches today (Friday). The tool enables parents to monitor behaviour, check homework, make payments and book parents’ evening appointments through a link on the academy’s website homepage. An email containing login details was sent to parents today.
WMG Academy’s science department was given a boost this week when students received a cheque for £1,000. The money was donated by the Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers to fund a school greenhouse project. Students will look at the effect different light frequencies have on plant growth. Leigh Baildham from the Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers visited the academy this week to present the cheque during assembly. It was handed over to Executive Student Leaders Alex Adam and Fabrice Laws.
A student-led tuck shop was launched this week on the ground floor of the academy. The tuckshop will be open before school, at break time, during lunch and for special events. The shop will raise money for school funds.

JLR Experience Many students have shown an interest in applying for work experience with JLR. Miss Burns advises students to apply as soon as possible. Miss Burns said: “Applications are on a first come, first served basis. Once the email inbox is full no other applications will be accepted so students need to submit very high standard applications and do so as soon as possible.” Miss Burns is offering to help students with forms before the application process opens on 19th February.
Robot Race The IET Robot Triathlon will take place in March. The event sees teams and individuals design robots to take part in a series of challenges, including line following, a time trial and a drag race. For information, contact
