After School Program Quick Facts: • Clubs will have a 15 student minimum in order to run. • Students In Grades 6-8 Are Welcome. • The session will run for 90 minutes and begin at the end of day: 2:45 - 4:15pm • A late bus will be available at 4:15 pm Open to all interested students. Max. 30 students.
Program will be held on Mondays and Thursdays at the Middle School on the following dates:
MSP
Meets 4 times per month after school on Mondays and/or Thursdays and occasional meeting during enrichment period
Open to members of the MSP choruses. Students must prepare an audition and individually perform a prepared piece, sight singing, and tonal memory exercises.
The group meets during the school day in the enrichment period.
Room 412
Auditions are held in September and as needed throughout the year. Students participating in sports are not able to participate unless they have special permission from Mr. Helming.

KIM (Kids in the Middle)

KIM is a community program available to students in grades 5-8, which provides opportunities for kids to be involved with their school and community.
Members of the KIM program participate in a variety of fun activities that focus on helping others. These activities can take place after- school, on weekends, and occasionally during the school day.
Mostly at MSP, but some of the other locations for KIM activities include the Plainville Housing Authority, the Wheeler Regional YMCA, Plainville Health Care, and the Plainville Association for Retarded Citizens. Students also volunteer at the Oak Hill School, which is located within the Middle School of Plainville.

The Military Mailroom is a club at the Middle School of Plainville dedicated to writing letters to deployed soldiers from Connecticut 7th and 8th grade Students apply and are selected based on academic achievement, teacher recommendations, personal character, and other skills deemed applicable.
Meets daily before school for 20-30 minutes

Open to all students. Students do not need to own their own skis or snowboard. Equipment can be rented and lessons are available. Signups are in November. There is an informational meeting during the school day, and then students bring in their registration forms and money. The cost includes bus, lift ticket, and rentals / lessons if needed. Open to all interested students – Representatives volunteer from each homeroom, but must have a teacher recommendation.
5 trips in January and February
Meet in the MSP cafeteria after school and get on a bus to Mount Southington. Ski for 4 hours and return to MSP at 8:20 PM.
