What I admire most about Vera Wang is the range of prices, making it practical for more than one social class to afford high quality products. With my patternmaking and sewing skills along with my strong Microsoft Excel and organizational skills, I hope to become a part of the Vera Wang team through a summer internship. Currently, I am a junior Apparel Merchandising and Product Development major with an emphasis on Marketing. In your internship ad on Internships.com, it mentions that you are seeking someone who has experience with Microsoft Excel, knowledge of fabrics, sewing, and garment construction, and strong organizational skills. Thanks to my previous coursework, I have a respectable background in both Excel and fabrics. In my Retail Math course, we used Excel to create inventory spreadsheets and analyze current market values of products. Sewing using different fabrics and patterns has been a hobby of mine since the age of 12 when I learned how to create pillow cases using simple patterns. My skills have since vastly improved and I recently completed a patternmaking project in class where I constructed a tote bag and zippered skirt by following instructions of a purchased pattern and won first place among a class of 60 students. Working 20 hours weekly as a Retail Associate while maintaining a 3.8 G.P.A. on a full-time course load demonstrates the strong organizational and time management skills you are seeking. With the use of my planner and phone calendar, I am able to keep myself organized and manage daily activities and responsibilities without conflict. The opportunity to utilize my sewing and garment construction skills through an internship with Vera Wang would be an invaluable experience.
