State Department Issues Vetting Cable On July 12, 2017, the State Department issued a cable discussing the information it will require from each country to sufficiently vet nationals seeking a visa or other immigration benefit under Executive Order 13,780. The cable was based on a report produced by the State Department in consultation with the Department of Homeland Security and the Director of National Intelligence. The report contains a classified list of countries preliminarily deemed as not meeting the required standards. The cable is reprinted at Appendix A.
BITS & PIECES USCIS — U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has returned all H-1B cap-subject petitions for the 2018 fiscal year that were not selected in the lottery process. Individuals who filed a cap-subject H-1B petition between April 3 and April 7 should contact USCIS for further assistance if they did not receive a receipt notice or returned petition by July 31.
