Appendix UK Trade & Investment UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is the British Government’s main business development agency which offers free support and independent advice to foreign companies looking to invest or locate in the UK. UKTI’s Global Entrepreneur Programme specifically focuses on helping entrepreneurs scale their business from a UK strategic HQ and has already helped hundreds of entrepreneurs to locate there.
Global Entrepreneur Programme (GEP) Technology start-ups are becoming “multinational” at earlier and earlier stages of their developments as entrepreneurs look beyond national borders for the most attractive sources of capital, talent, market potential and start-up guidance. The GEP seeks to enable these entrepreneurs and early stage technology companies from all over the world to globalise their businesses from a UK hub. It does this by harnessing the insight, networks and experience of its team of internationally successful entrepreneurs (known as dealmakers) to help identify and accelerate the world’s best early-stage tech businesses. Since its inception in 2004, GEP has had over 350 global successes (i.e. entrepreneurs and companies expanding and relocating in the UK) and more than 250 have landed during the last 4 years These have covered a very broad range of technologies such as e-health, financial tech, software, nanotechnology, cybersecurity, healthcare, digital media, wireless, advanced engineering and renewables. Our GEP companies have also raised over £1bn of equity investment during this period and created over 2000 high value jobs. We are constantly seeking the best entrepreneurs to continue to join our programme.
Sirius Programme The Sirius Programme (www.siriusprogramme.com) is a scheme by UK Trade & Investment that allows graduate entrepreneurs to apply for help setting up their business in the UK. Successful applicants receive a 12-month start-up support package which includes funding per team member (teams of 2-4), visa endorsement, a one year placement with a business accelerator programme, mentoring and logistical help with relocating to the UK (like a mobile phone and introduction to a bank manager on arrival). One of the key aspects of the Sirius Programme that makes it the best programme in Europe, is that no equity is taken from the business so it remains 100% owned by the graduate teams. Recent graduates (Bachelors, Masters, or research degrees) may apply. We will soon open our vacancies for the next round.
