from Emma Redmond. Although Crokes had many attacks in the first half the defence of Susan Kavanagh and Amanda Murray kept their chances of scoring slim. Catherine Roche added another point as well as two from the left boot of Emma Redmond. Sinéad Kenny recorded a fantastic goal to the score after a pinpoint pass from Emma Redmond and excellent running off the ball from Sinéad Kenny. Towers had worked up 1-7 before conceding two points, which saw the end of the first, half. Changes at half time made the difference in a great display of football in the second half. Catherine Roche added two points to the leading score for Towers. Crokes had a good share of the ball in the second half but made little use of it with scoring just a point. Tactical changes of position in the team led Towers to concede a goal and a point in the last few minutes. Suzanne Murray was great at midfield while Maria Kavanagh worked hard at centre half back. A good team performance was displayed with exact passing and simple moves. Team: Lisa Gregg, Amanda Mur-

NEXT WEEKS JACKPOT €8,400 JUNIOR A FOOTBALL LEAGUE 6/06/2002 Round Tower 0-7 Naomh Mearnog 1-14 Round Towers were soundly beaten by League leaders, Naomh Mearnog in this League fixture played in Portmarnock on Thursday evening, 06 June 2002. Towers survived a lightening start by Naomh Mearnog when Keith Graham brought off a great save in the first minute. There followed another bad miss by Mearnog in the third minute when they split the Towers defence apart only to shoot wide. Darragh Kelly opened the Towers account on 6 minutes, lucky to have only conceded 2 points at this stage. Stephen McGibney equalised from a free on ten minutes. Mearnog pressure began to pay off when they scored 4 unanswered points. Ger. Minahan narrowed the gap to manageable proportions with a pointed free after he himself was fouled. However the last three minutes of the half proved disastrous for Towers when they conceded a further 1 - 2 to leave the half-time score Naomh Mearnog 1 - 8; Round Towers 0 - 3. Towers determined to salvage some pride, opened the second half-

brightly and scored three points, courtesy of Darragh Kelly (2) and Stephen McGibney, to Naomh Mearnog's one. However, Mearnog were always in control and scored a further five (5) points with Towers only registering a single pointed free from Stephen McGibney. A bad defeat for Towers, which would have been even worse, were it not for some fine saves by Towers man-of-thematch, Keith Graham. Towers Scorers: S McGibney 0 - 3; D Kelly 0 - 3; G Minahan 0 - 1. Eugene Garrigan JUNIOR A FOOTBALL LEAGUE 9/06/2002 Round Tower 1-10 St Brigids 0-10 Towers entered this match against St Brigids determined to erase the memories of a terrible display

against Naomh Mearnog on Thursday evening last. Brigids enjoyed most possession early on without registering a score. Noel Dunne showed them how after 5 minutes with a fine point. On 10 minutes, Brendan Stynes, winning the ball well after a pass from Paul Lanigan, had a shot deflected over the bar by the Brigid's goalkeeper. Kevin Lyons, playing very well in his first start for the team, scored a good point from play and followed this up with a pointed free after Darren O'Meara was fouled. St Brigids opened their account on 18 minutes. Then Towers were unlucky not to score a goal when Darragh Kelly broke through. His shot deflected to Brendan Stynes who hit the upright with the goalkeeper beaten. Kevin Lyons was alert and coolly slotted over the rebound. Brigids then narrowed the gap with 2 points from frees. Towers, however, with a slight wind in their favour, notched a further 2 points from Kevin Lyons and Noel Dunne. With Towers piling on the pressure, another free ensued, but indiscipline by a Towers player resulted in the referee changing his decision which left Towers 0 - 7 to 0 - 3 ahead at half-time. It looked ominous for Towers when St Brigid's scored 4 points without reply within 10 minutes of the restart. Kevin Lyons eased Towers ahead again with a pointed free. However 2 points for Brigids had them a point ahead with 16 minutes of the second half elapsed. Then the match turned and Towers were to show their real mettle. Darragh Kelly protested too vigorously at the referee's decision to award a free against him and received a second yellow card to reduce Towers to 14 players. 14-man Towers began to take the game to Brigid's and a great move involving Darren O'Meara, Noel Dunne and Packy McGivern saw Carl McGrane receive the ball behind the Brigid's defence to unleash an unstoppable shot past the Brigid's goalkeeper. Brigid's again narrowed the gap with a point. With Ben Price, Barry Gallagher and Ger. Hickey introduced to provide fresh legs; Towers were not to succumb now. Ben Price pointed from play after a good pass from Packy McGivern and Barry Gallagher completed the scoring with a pointed free after man-of-thematch; Darren O'Meara was fouled. A satisfying victory for Towers whose next fixtures are against Lucan Sarsfields (away) on Sunday, 16th June in the Conlon Cup and against Ballyboughall (away) on Thursday, 20th 4

June in the League. Training on Thursday evening - 7 p.m. sharp. Scorers for Tower: K Lyons 0 - 5; C McGrane 1 - 0; N Dunne 0 - 2; B Stynes 0 - 1; B Price 0 - 1; B Gallagher 0 - 1. Team:
