The Under 14 footballers showed that their defeat by Good Counsel early in the season was just a lapse of concentration last Thursday when they beat Counsel convincingly. This keeps them on target for league glory at the end of the season. Then on Saturday they saw off the challenge of Whitehall in the Championship to ensure their advancement to the Under14A Championship quarter-finals on Thursday
25th in Albert College against Na Fianna at 7.30pm. We wish this team and its mentors all the best on Thursday and urge all those who can to turn out and support this great team. The Under15 TEAM saw off Na Fianna in their league to keep them on their way to league glory. The final score in a match that saw Towers take control of the game was 513 to 1-1. The team now has a short break for school exam before they continue their league adventure.
MENTORS
The executive committee has asked Shay Clifford to oversee and regulate the use of both the Monastery Road training area and the pitch. Concerns surrounding overuse of the facility have been expressed in addition to clashes in fixtures in recent weeks. It's hoped to streamline the use of the pitch and it's envisaged that the flagship teams of each section will be given priority in playing their matches there. However all requests will be entertained. Shay's number is 086 3179077 and mentors are asked to co-operate fully with him on this issue.
ON THE PITCH
The senior footballers scored a convincing home league win over Thomas Davis last Saturday night and face a break before their next league or championship outing. The draw for the fourth round of the championship has yet to be made. The junior B footballers impressed in their away league win over Ballyboden St Enda’s. This week is a busy one for both adult hurling teams with league and championship fixtures scheduled. The intermediate hurlers face Thomas Davis at home on Saturday evening and supporters and members can check fixture listings and the website for details of the other games.
LADIES SENIOR FOOTBALL CUP 17/05/06 ROUND TOWERS1-2 Garda 4-9 Garda got off to a great start scoring two goals and five points before Towers got their first score and only score of the half a point by Louise O'Neill. The Garda went on to score another goal and point in that half. Towers made a few changes at half time putting Catriona McGrath in goals, Natasha Daly to half back and Roisin Ni Dhonnagain to the forward line, But the Garda were to strong for Towers on the day. Leaving the final score 4-09 to 1-02. Towers were without players like Catherine Roche and Maria Kavanagh, Capt. Emma Redmond, Annette Harrington and Gillian Dowling. All Players will be back for the Championship Game against the Garda on Wednesday night. Report By

HURLING TOURNAMENT 5
Last Thursday morning three third classes from the local schools came together in the Community Centre for a Hurling Tournament. These schools were Gael Scoil Chluain Dolcain, Gael Scoil Na Camoige and St Josephs. Unfortunately Sruleen were unable to field a team on this occasion. This Tournament was scheduled for Wednesday but due to changeable weather it was rescheduled for Thursday. Each school had 4 teams each of 7 players. This meant that there was plenty of hurling matches to go round. Eventually each school picked a seven man team to contest the Semi-finals and a draw was made to see which school would get a bye into the final. St Josephs and Gael Scoil Chluain Dolcain were selected to play in the semi-final. The Semi-final was a close fought match with both teams showing the skill that they have learnt over the year. Gael Scoil came out winners of this match but they know that they had had a match. The Final was a very close run thing that either team could have won with the lead changing hands all through the match to the excitement of the onlookers. At the final whistle Gael Scoil Chluain Dolcain had a two point advantage. Those who had watched this match applauded both sets of players and agreed that it was one of the best matches that they had seen for a long time. The teachers then presented the medals to their teams. And they all received posters and refreshments. Many thanks to John McGarry who organised the Tournament, Round Tower GAA Club Clondalkin who sponsored it, and all those who helped out Colaiste Bridge TY students, all the Teachers, Eoin Brady, Dermot Milton and the 6th classes. The Next Tournament is on this Friday again in the Round Towers Community Centre pitches and it will be a football tournament with four different schools. Report By

Professional Voluntary recruitment A document which a lot of you would have seen already is now available from me when you are persuading parents, friends, and students etc to get involved in voluntary work for Round Towers. This is to maintain a consistency and professional approach to recruitment and to outline the advantages and benefits of volunteers getting involved rather than the old desperate plea for help. Promotion Day I have arranged a promotion day in Scoil Talbot on the 30th of May. Need a round Towers display or stand. The plan is to hand out info on Round Towers to Parents in Scoil Talbot and talk to them. It Starts at 1100am on Tues 30th May until 2.30.
