Dr. S. C. Handa has 44 years of teaching and research experience in the field of engineering. After obtaining his Master of Engineering degree in 1966 from University of Roorkee, he joined that institute as a faculty member. In 1971, he was awarded Commonwealth Scholarship of Government of Canada for higher studies under which he procured his Ph.D in engineering from Queen’s University at Kingston in Canada. He had been serving at University of Roorkee (presently known as IIT - Roorkee) where he rose to the position of Professor in 1982. He has published over 61 research papers, undertaken more than 20 consultancy and research projects and has guided 36 Ph. D and M.Tech theses. He has delivered over hundred talks in India and abroad and visited fourteen countries across the globe. He is an advisor to many professional groups and several ministries of Government of India. After retirement form IIT- Roorkee in 2004, he served as Director of College of Engineering Roorkee and is currently serving as Director General of Quantum Global Campus, Roorkee. Prof. S. C. Handa has been actively involved in the area of Faculty Development for which he underwent training in foreign countries. He has run dozens of courses on “Effective Teaching” at IIT Roorkee wherein he has been personally involved in improving the classroom teaching skills of over 1000 technical teachers from across the country. For the past two decades, Dr. Handa has been a torch bearer for the welfare of the disabled & has been instrumental in giving the rehabilitation services to over 4000 deaf children and adults and those having hearing problems. He got established a school for the Deaf Children on the campus of IIT Roorkee & took full responsibility of its financial & professional development for 18 years – a school which is now known as one of the best school for the Deaf in Asia. Dr. Handa has also published 4 books on topics of disability and has prepared a very large number of teaching aids and computer aided instructional programmes for the deaf students.

Prof. Handa has done deep studies and research on ancient monuments in India and abroad – some of them being Leaning Tower of Pisa, Eiffel Tower, Qutab Minar and Taj Mahal etc. One of his most popular talk is on Taj Mahal which has been delivered in many places like schools, clubs, institutions and research organizations etc. Prof. Handa is also a recipient of several national and international awards, some of which includes: •
