Jeff welcomed everyone. Then change agenda item 7 to item 8 and change to a discussion item instead of an action item and move facility tour to agenda item 7 and facilities to item 8. Vote

APPROVAL OF GIFTS AND GRANTS • Memorial gift to KHS football for $1033.00 and to KHS baseball for $533.00 from Jeff Miller family. • $900.00 gift from Scott and Amy Livingston to help pay for charter bus to take KHS football team to district game at Holcomb. • $2000.00 from Norwich Booster Club to pay for part of Vertimax training machine at Norwich • $480.00 from Foundation to pay for NMS registration to WSU band workshop • $2297.50 from Foundation to pay for part of Vertimax training machine at Norwich • $1443.62 from Foundation to pay for ½ of NMS and NHS student field trip to Orpheum Theater in Wichita for a play • $350.00 from Foundation to pay for remote control airplane for PLTW AE course at KHS • $585.00 from Foundation to pay for National FFA Registration costs for KHS students Total Gifts and Grants: $9622.12 NORWICH SCHOOL PRESENTATION Samantha Bradley and NHS culinary arts students prepared snacks for the board meeting and described their course, what they have been learning and demonstrated their food presentation skills with some very tasty food. TOUR OF NORWICH FACILITY Board members toured Norwich facility including review of areas of maintenance that are in need of replacement such as HVAC, lighting, restrooms, plumbing and safety needs. FACILITIES Representatives of Knipp Services and George K. Baum updated the board on their recent work on possible facilities improvement. Discussion on progress of determining a “Blue Ribbon Committee” was held with goal of finalizing this committee membership at the November board meeting.
STRATEGIC SUCCESS PLAN & KESA UPDATES Dr. Diepenbrock updated the board on district and building-level progress towards early phase of the new state accreditation process and discussed connections to the district Strategic Success Plan. SPECIAL EDUCATION REPORT The main topic of discussion was how each member district Gifted Assessment is calculated. Consensus was this formula needs revision. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS Administrators provided written reports to the board. SUPERINTENDENT REPORT Dr. Bob Diepenbrock, superintendent, presented information on the following: • Overtime updates • KASB regional meeting in Hutchinson with Randy Watson and Dale Dennis • Reminded the board about the KASB annual convention in December in Wichita • KSSA Finance & Council of Superintendents upcoming meeting • School finance lawsuit update • Use of equipment by students policy reviewed and will be studied further • Municipal Court community service update • Aerospace Engineering field trip – flying to Ponca City courtesy of Eric Dunn and Hooray Ranch • Baseball coaching clinic in Ohio request by Coach Munz • Inservices in October - Oct. 17th and Oct. 28th or 31st • Real estate auction of house will be Oct. 29th at 10:00 a.m. • Enrichment Foundation Eagle Extravaganza grossed almost $474,000.00 before expenses at it inaugural fundraiser
