Matthew 10:34 - 39 Jesus declares that He did not come to bring peace on earth, but a sword to divide believers from non-believers and that whoever does not take up their cross and follow Christ is not worthy of him and whoever finds their life in Christ will lose it, and whoever loses their life for Christ’s sake will find it. 10. Matthew 10:40 – 42 Jesus teaches us that whoever welcomes a believer welcomes Christ and the Trinity and lays out comments about rewards in heaven for the righteous, the prophet and even the common man who offers little to a disciple.
