• CHCCS411C Work effectively in the community sector • HLTHIR403C Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers* These units are from the CIV in Community Services Work OR
Extensive work experience in Community Services (see website or brochure)
*We have included these two units as the ‘Foundation’ units of the course – so the course is direct entry regardless of the level of experience of the student. Those who have completed the CIV in Community Services Work or have work experience can apply for credit transfer or RPL.
Other requirements:
18 years of age minimum, and completion of Year 12 (or a CIII or 3 years work experience) for the literacy requirement Structured Workplace Learning: 200 hourts of work placement

Structured Workplace Learning 200 hours of work placement in a relevant community services organisation. Work placement can be completed in the student’s current workplace – must be approved by Open Colleges. If not, students will source their own work placement and can access the support of the Workplacement Support Team Students commence work placement in Study Period 4 to ensure they have developed skills in case management and working effectively in a community services environment. The Workplace Supervisor will need at least 3 years experience and hold a Diploma of Community Services (at a minimum). Before commencing work placement, all students will be required to obtain a Criminal Record Check, and if work with children, a Working with Children Check.
