RETTUNGSDRONE 2.0 EMERGENCY Tu vida es nuestro Proyecto.
DESCRIPTION. A non-profit international project comprised of Spanish and German emergency experts. Its aim is to study and analyse the operational possibilities of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), also called drones, in emergency situations or disasters and their possible integration into conventional emergency services. A project with different points of view and from different countries, in collaboration with firefighters, paramedics, rescue teams... It is a union of protocols, materials, mindsets and climatology among others to obtain only the most truthful and transparent information provided by the necessary tools to improve the current reaction and intervention systems of the emergency systems, and thanks to that, improve the success rate when saving lives.

OBJETIVE. Drones constitute an innovative advance in the current marketplace and provide great advantages to various professional sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure control and private security. In RettungsDrone we think that the advantages that these systems can provide to the current extra-hospital emergency services are really positive following the results obtained. They are exponentially positive. We start from the idea that a UAV pilot has a wider range of operational possibilities by being a qualified and trained emergency professional. We seek to improve what already exists, not only with the contribution of the device but improving the development of the global intervention: timing, costs, precision, adaptability and of course, effectiveness, with the only aim of saving lives. On this ground, RettungsDrone 2.0 Emergency seeks to combine the best operational procedures, collect the most remarkable technical information and create new processes according to their nature, situation or characteristics, obviously, with the UAV systems as a new tool.

Personal information of the Project.
These characteristics are comparable to helicopter on air actions, which is the most used method so far to develop air filming, logistics or searches. We are therefore talking about an air tool to support land and water units. Due to its fast transport and deployment, it provides air data with minimum cost and no pollution, since they are 100% electric. In short, we have a tool for reduced search and rescue operations, fires or any other events that do not require to overfly long distances.

MATERIALS. The members of the project seek the most functional teams to develop this activity. We are based on our experience with firefighters and paramedics to define the technical characteristics of the material we are going to work with.
We start from the idea of a material for the emergency team, such as firefighters, paramedics, land and water rescue teams, air rescue, forestry firefighters, etc. Therefore, it must be a reduced-size portable device, light, powerful and versatile, adaptable for hard-to-reach and reduced spaces, open fields or urban settings. This is why, after researching the field, we opted for the brand Yuneec, and, in particular, the typhoon H model, since it is very close to what we are looking for. We have compact equipment, a medium-size drone, 4k photographic and video cameras, thermal cameras, FPV monitors for observation and monitoring.

COLLABORATION AND SPONSORSHIP. Since it is a non-profit study project, we have the necessity to collaborate with associations and companies within the industry from both countries, as well as with emergency and rescue teams in order to carry out such tests and thus, being able to collect all the information in terms of functionality, effectiveness, protocols or guidelines used depending on the accident or event to cope. As part of our innovation, we include the use of drones in different scenarios.
Earthquakes
Forestry fires
Urban fires
TECHNOLOGY TO SAVE LIVES
Water rescue
Searching for disappeared persons
Maritime disasters

RESULTS. From RettungsDrone 2.0 Emergency we want to make our contribution to the research of new tools that facilitate the search and rescue of people. We defend the idea that the only way to achieve this is by innovating and combining experience. Risks evolve and we must go parallel in the same direction. We have a research timeline of no more than two years for the collection of such information and thus, being able to create new protocols or ways of working for the emergency services with the inclusion of new UAV systems as an essential provision material. Naturally, our study is associated to the current regulations of the countries involved in drones flying and it is flexible in terms of the future European law which is pending approval. Which we hope to be sufficiently beneficial not only for these type of activities, but for the whole industry.
