Charter Australia’s selection of English courses meet both the National Standards for ELICOS (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students) and the Standards for VET Accredited Courses. Therefore, the English language development that you achieve throughout this course will be recognised on a national scale! We offer three different English courses at Charter Australia. This means that, based on your own English ability and desired outcome, we have a course suited to your needs.

OUR ENGLISH TRAINERS Bernard Miles brings to students a wealth of experience in teaching the English language. Throughout his impressive career, he has delivered English language teaching both in China and in Australia, to a diverse range of students. Bernard prides himself on his consistently innovative approach to teaching, of which he has built a very positive reputation for himself. Bernard has spent most of his career in the Skills for Employment and Education Program. He achieved remarkable success over a number of years teaching English language, numeracy, literacy, and computer skills. Since becoming a curriculum development officer for the program, Bernard has designed learning resources, assessment tasks, and teacher-training

programs. On a number of occasions, Bernard’s assessment task designs have been presented at nation-wide workshops as models of

practice.

Throughout his career, Bernard has been committed to his own academic development, which has allowed him to progress in his career as a teacher. Bernard graduated with a Bachelor of International Studies in Languages at UNSW, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at UTS.

Charter Australia is registered with and accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), is authorised to deliver Nationally Recognised Training within the Australian Qualifications Framework. Charter Australia is listed on the Commonwealth Register for Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). Charter Australia is a member of the Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET). Charter Australia’s project management courses are also endorsed by the Australian Institute of Project Management. PATHWAY TO UNIVERSITY After achieving a qualification through Charter Australia, candidates may choose to undertake studies at a higher education level. Some tertiary and professional bodies are considering providing recognition for qualifications from Charter Australia through advanced standing in membership or studies. We can assist you in the process of receiving this recognition should you wish to continue your higher education. ACADEMIC CALENDAR Charter Australia has four intake dates per year for international students, which are at the beginning of each term. You will need to allow sufficient time to apply to study at Charter Australia in order to get your international student visa and to arrive in Australia on time to commence your study. If you are applying from another country, you should allow two to six months before the course starts for visa processing and flight booking to Sydney. To ensure quality training and resources are provided to every student, Charter Australia only takes a small number of students per course per year. The Student Support Officer can give personal and friendly assistance to students in many areas including academic advice, student visas, health insurance, welfare, social activities, and effective study methods and settling into your new life. STUDENT COUNSELLOR

Charter Australia has arrangements with a highly qualified Student Counsellor who can advise you on matters such as coping with assessments and assessment stress, relaxation techniques and further studies at university. They may also be able to assist you with personal matters if required. Please contact the Student Support Officer if you require assistance. There is no charge the referral or the first consultation with the Student Counsellor. CAMPUS AND FACILITIES
