FAIR TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITY FOR MIDDLE SCHOOLERS TO EXPLORE CTE PROGRAMS Fauquier County Public Schools’ fifth annual Career and Technical Education (CTE) Pathways Fair will be held Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 8 a.m.-2:15 p.m. in the Fauquier High School gymnasium. All FCPS eighth-grade students will attend the fair, which is aimed at familiarizing them with the CTE programs that will be offered at the high school level. “We hold the fair to assist eighth graders as they develop their academic and career plan,” said Sarah Frye, instructional supervisor of career and technical education for the school division. “We want them to become familiar with the course offerings as they begin their high school studies.” Students from Fauquier, Kettle Run and Liberty High Schools will be at the fair to lead presentations and answer questions about the numerous CTE courses available. FCPS offers approximately 80 career and technical education courses in the areas of agriculture, business and marketing, family and consumer sciences, health and medical sciences, technology, trade and industry, and military science. Completion of certain CTE courses enables students to participate in assessments leading to industry certifications, a state license or national and/or occupational competency certifications. Some of the courses have an optional work component. Parents of middle school students as well as any interested community members are invited to visit the Pathways Fair to learn more about the school division’s CTE programs. Visitors should first check in at the gymnasium lobby. For additional information about the CTE Pathways Fair, contact Diana Story at
