Darby Creek District Volunteer Recognition Awards Please nominate the Scouters you know to receive the recognition they deserve! We will be presenting awards at our annual Volunteer Recognition Celebration Dinner. All nominations must be submitted by May 1, 2014 to be considered by the awards committee. The following is a list of awards for consideration. Note that some awards may be presented to more than one person and some awards may not be presented every year. Rising Star Award Nominees must be new to Scouting and have shown outstanding service to Scouting at any level. Fire Starter Award Nominees must have “started a fire” in a Unit or in the District to develop growth and excitement. Above & Beyond This certificate is presented in recognition of significant service to the Cub Scout, Boy Scout, or Venturing program during the past two or more years at the Unit or District level. The recipient must be completely trained for the position in which they serve. Distinguished Service Plaque This award is presented in recognition of continuing, education, and distinguished and exceptional service to Scouting during the past three or more years. District Award of Merit This is the highest district level award presented for continuous service to Scouting. A nominee must be a registered Scouter has rendered noteworthy service to youth in Scouting and/or outside Scouting consistently over a period of time. This is a National award presented at the District level, and nominations are submitted on the District Award of Merit nomination form. Cub Scouter of the Year This award recognizes the year’s outstanding Cub Scout Leader within the Darby Creek District. This honor is presented to a Scouter who is registered with a Cub Scout Pack. The nominee must be fully trained in their position and have a demonstrated record of helping to provide a strong program as demonstrated, for example, through good advancement, a good crossover ratio, earning the Journey to Excellence Award, etc. Boy Scouter of the Year This award recognizes the year’s outstanding Boy Scout Leader within the Darby Creek District. This honor is presented to a Scouter who is registered with a Boy Scout Troop. The nominee must be fully trained in their position and have a demonstrated record of helping to provide a strong program as demonstrated, for example, through good advancement, an active outdoor program, earning the Journey to Excellence Award, etc. Venturing/Varsity Scout/Sea Scout Advisor of the Year This award recognizes the year’s outstanding Venturing, Varsity Scout, and Sea Scout Leaders within the Darby Creek District. This honor is presented to a Scouter who is registered with a Venturing Crew, Varsity Scout Team, or Sea Scout Ship. The nominee must be fully trained in their position and have a demonstrated record of helping to provide a strong program as demonstrated, for example, through good advancement, an active program, earning the Journey to Excellence Award, etc. Scouter of the Year This award recognizes the year’s outstanding Scouter in the Darby Creek District. This honor is presented to a Scouter who is registered with the District or Council. The nominee must be fully trained in their position and have a demonstrated record of helping to provide a strong program as demonstrated, for example, through District or Council programs, District or Council operations, and earning the Journey to Excellence Award, etc. Commissioner of the Year This award recognizes outstanding commissioner service. The nominee must be fully trained their position and have shown outstanding service to Scouting at the Unit or District level during the year. This award is presented in cooperation with the District Commissioner. Outstanding Charter Organization Representative of the Year A nominee for this award must have provided outstanding service to the Unit and the Charter Organization.
