75 hours per fortnight, however you will be required to work additional hours depending on the needs of AIA

Job Overview:
● As a member of the Senior Leadership Team ensure the achievement of AIA’s 2020 Vision and Values. ● Provide strategic communications and external affairs advice and support ● Be a proactive external ambassador for AIA ● Inspire, develop and lead a team of staff and volunteers ● This is a dynamic and exciting role, calling on your ability to work effectively under pressure, as well as develop and deliver long term organisational plans
Main Responsibilities:
● Lead responsibility for developing and implementing an inspiring Communications strategy ● Ensure effective digital, new media , traditional media, key influencer and advocacy plans are developed and implemented ● Oversee the development and implementation of the 2020 Council major donor fundraising and influencers strategy ● Support and empower the 2020 council to achieve their goals, plans and income targets ● Ensure we achieve the annual major donor plans and budgets ● Ensure effective and sustainable governance support is provided ● Lead, motivate, manage and develop staff, activists and teams ● Ensure AIA has sector leading Digital / New Media presence ● Manage ND’s office ensuring all key functions run effectively ● Support the National Director to maximise external engagement opportunities ● Coordinate AIA’s horizon scanning and stakeholder mapping process ● Identify best practises and improve internal systems ● Perform role to a high standard within agreed timelines and in line with AIA’s vision and values and ethos ● Other tasks within your skills and competence as required

Position Description Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
● Extensive track record in developing and delivering successful strategies in at least 2 of the key functions of the post (ie 2 from - advocacy, digital / new media, traditional media and major donor fundraising) ● Managing change and complex projects at senior level ● Track record of building, leading, mentoring and coaching staff and teams ● Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, negotiation and communication skills (oral, written and speech writing) ● Ability to influence and inspire a wide range of people externally and internally ● Ability to work unsocial hours, undertake domestic travel including overnight stays and occasional international travel ● Senior leadership experience in communications external affairs or fundraising ● Passion and commitment to Amnesty International’s mission, values and work ● Effective teamworking

Knowledge and expertise in achieving positive societal change Media, communications or journalism qualifications Experience of working in a membership and/or international ngo Securing million dollar major donor gifts Knowledge and expertise in governance and working in partnership with Board and volunteers Strong cultural competency Experience in designing and leading organisational evaluation processes Track record in designing effective monitoring strategies, plans and systems High level numeracy and budgeting skills Experience in managing major media events and securing significant impactful coverage
