Position: Director of Extended Learning and Summer Camp Programming
Reports to: Walter Landberg, Head of School Details: Full Time with flex hours due to summer camp (i.e. 55 to 65 hours during summer camp season with less hours during academic year) Summers-Knoll School (SK), a K-8 school in Ann Arbor, MI, is seeking a Director of Extended Learning and Summer Camp Programming. Responsibilities: ● To create, market and oversee the entire summer school/camp operation and year-round after-school programming, including: ○ After school clubs ○ Morning and After Care ○ School break camps (Midwinter and Spring) ○ One day Adventure Day trips ○ Summer camp ● To partner with teachers, camp staff and external instructors to develop creative, engaging, inspiring and remarkable learning experiences for children both during the summer and year-round. ● To retain, train, and evaluate the services of appropriate staff and teachers to organize and run the programs including the summer camp staff, Morning and After Care staff, and lunch/recess supervisors. ● To ensure excellent quality in camps and programming through engagement with campers and families, evaluation of experiences, and an orientation toward innovation, safety, convenience and exceptional experiences. ● To build a sound practice of policies, procedures and training that will provide a solid foundation for the programs. ● To create, maintain, and communicate all records and licensing, as required by the school, DHS and other entities. ● To ensure that the Extended Learning program is in compliance with all DHS regulations. ● To create and monitor all safety and health programs for the camps and year-round programming. ● To arrange for thoughtful communications with and events for the parents of summer campers.

To lead monthly training sessions for Extended Learning staff. To lead summer camp orientation for summer camp staff. To work with the Business Director to develop a budget and to ensure the profitability of the program, ensure proper documentation of employees. To work with the Director of Admissions and Development to develop strategies to promote camp programs. To prepare appropriate summary reports for the school, the trustees and the public. To perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: ● Bachelor’s degree in child development related field. ● Demonstrated leadership in planning and managing innovative camp and extended learning programming. ● Acknowledged ability to lead teams of creative people to high performance. ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills. ● Demonstrated skill in planning, developing and executing business growth with a focus on quality assurance.
