The Department of Education Nat ional Capital Region thru t he Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD) announces the conduct of the 201 6 Regiona Scie nce Quest w ith the theme "Environmental Protection and Conservation of Ecosystem " to be hosted by SDO- Marikina City on: • November 19, 2016 (Junior HS) at Marikina High School • November 26, 2016 (Elementary) at Parang Elementary Scho ol 2. The 2016 Regional Science Quest aims to make Science principles alive, meaningful and relevant to the learners, and s elect the most creative/ innovative/ best Scien ce Investigatory Projects (S!Ps) researches w ho w ill represent the region t o the Natio nal Sci ence and Technology Fair. 3. The Regional Science Rank One(l) and Division first (lst) place winner (Elementary and Junior HS) in each category will compete in t he 2016 Regional Science Quest. . 4. Su bm ission of write- u ps of the Science Investigat ory Projects (S!Ps) with co mplete INTEL ISE F For ms and Science Intervention Material (SIM) in fo ur (4) copies (hard copy w ith CD) for both Elem entary and Junior High School is on October 21, 201 6 fro m 8 :00 AM to 3 : 00 PM only at the DepEd NCR New Conference Room. 5. Further, supervisors, / co ordinators, department heads, trainers and participants are expected to down load s oft copies of the Internati onal Rules for PreCo llege scie nce : Guidelines for Science and Engineering Fair 20 17 and requi red fo rms from http://www.societyforscience.org/ isef/ru les& guidelines for their guidance. 6. C. CONTEST MECHANICS 1. SCIENCE QU IZ
a. The Regional Scien ce Ran k One (1) and Division fi rst (1st) place wi nner per grade level (Grade 3-10) wi.11 join the science quiz. b. There shall be three (3) rounds for all categories: Easy, Average and Difficu lt. There shall be ten (1 0) easy, five (5) avernge and five (5) diffi cul t questions. All cont esta nts shall answer all questions in the t hree (3) rounds. In case of tie, five (5) questions for clincher will be give n. Each correct answer in every round will be given corresponding, to wi.t: Easy - 1point Average 2 points Difficult 3 po int s c. Each contestant shall bring his/her own black pentel pen. The answer sheet wi.11 be provided. d. Each question must be answered w ithin the t ime allocated for it. Ten (10) seconds for easy, 1 5 seconds for average and 30 seconds for difficult e. Th e quiz master shall read each question twice and t he t ime shall st art on ly after the quiz master says "go". He/ She must w rite his/ her answer .on the answer sheet. If a contestant w ishes to change his/her answers, the former a nswer should be crossed out and the fin al answer e ncircled . f. All answers must be spell ed correctly to be considered correct. If the answer is a proper no un, capitalizatioi1-ofl:he first letter of the word is needed to declare the correct answer. g. Use of calculators (or any gadget) shall not be allowed . 2. ON THE SPOT MAKING CONTEST a. Each contestants will provide his/her own materials • 1/ 4 size illustration board • Cray pass . b. Duration of the contest shall not exceed 3 hours. Finished outputs should not contain any label or name that may identify the contestant. c. Criteria should be observed in judging: • Creativity 25 % 20% • Relevance to the theme 25 % • Harmony 10% • Neatness 10% • Uniqueness/Visual Impact 10% • Speed and accuracy
