Join the Kidcasso Team for an art adventure with French paper artist, Henri Matisse. Matisse is known for his colorful, expressive, and shape fueled collage-style of art! Students will study works of art from Henri Matisse’s personal portfolio, they will be immersed in the life of the artist known as the “wild beast” and the father of the Fauvist movement. Students will create one-of-a-kind works of art including, canvas painting, oil pastels, texture paper collages, and 3D sculptures. We look forward to bringing Boston’s Best Art Studio for Kids named by Boston Parents Paper to the Wakefield Academy this Spring!

CREATIVE ART & DRAWING (Gr. 1&2) Tuesdays (3:15-4:15) LOCATION: Room 107 INSTRUCTOR: Ms. Binnig & Ms. Farrell DATES: 3/21, 3/28, 4/4, 4/11, 4/25 MAX ENROLLMENT: 12 FEE: $40 for 5 weeks Experience the joy and freedom of self-expression through creative coloring and collage-making. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their artistic skills in this fun and creative program.

Patterns, shapes, numbers and more will come to life in this hands-on mathematical adventure.

KIDS’ TEST KITCHEN (K-4) Tuesdays – 2 SESSIONS!!! (3:15-4:15 and 4:30-5:30) LOCATION: Teacher’s Room INSTRUCTOR: Kids’ Test Kitchen staff DATES: 3/21, 3/28, 4/4, 4/11, 4/25 MAX ENROLLMENT: 15 FEE: $90 for 5 weeks (No Academy Discount) Kids’ Test Kitchen is on a mission to get young aspiring chefs cooking, tasting, and thinking about healthy ingredients! We’ll work together to prepare fun snacks, entrées, and side items whose key ingredients are known to be really good for us! March comes in like a lion and will hopefully go out like a lamb, so this session we’ll be creating recipes that are hot and comforting, and some that are light and refreshing! At the end of class your aspiring chef will receive the main ingredient, or a sample of the prepared dish, so that they can show off what they’ve learned! Kids have food allergies, but they shouldn’t miss out on the fun. We know allergies and can work around them, making sure that everyone is having fun and staying safe. AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS (Gr. 3&4) Thursdays (3:15-4:15) LOCATION: Gym INSTRUCTOR: Ms. Uva & Ms. Harte DATES: 3/23, 3/30, 4/6, 4/13, 4/27 MAX ENROLLMENT: 25 FEE: $40 for 5 weeks Students will learn how to cooperate and work together athletically to have fun! Each week a different game will be introduced. The first 10-15 minutes of each session will be reserved for teaching the students the basic skills of the game. The majority of the time will be spent on actually playing the game. Good Sportsmanship will be emphasized.

We will play a variety of games and sports. Students will actively participate in our school gymnasium.

DOODLING (Gr. 3&4) Tuesdays (3:15-4:15) LOCATION: Room 132 INSTRUCTOR: Ms. Glickstein DATES: 3/21, 3/28, 4/4, 4/11, 4/25 MAX ENROLLMENT: 10 FEE: $40 for 5 weeks Want to learn how to entertain yourself with only a pencil and a piece of paper? Join Ms. Glickstein in room 132 where you will get to see the work of famous cartoonists, listen to great books about art, and most importantly, get to try your hand at some of the most fun and exciting doodling concepts. No previous experience necessary! Everyone is an artist. Come with your imagination fully charged!

SPORTSZONE (Gr. K-4) Mondays (3:15-4:15) LOCATION: Gym INSTRUCTOR: SportsZone staff DATES: 3/20, 3/27, 4/3, 4/10, 4/24 MAX ENROLLMENT: 25 FEE: $70 for 5 weeks (no Academy discount) Welcome back students to our Tournament of Champions! In this class, children will participate in a variety of games, such as street hockey, soccer, football, dodgeball, basketball and many others. In addition to learning the fundamentals of these sports, we will have exciting discussions about current events in sports, good sportsmanship and understanding the cool statistics on sports cards. Each participant will receive a daily pack of cards. Sports Zone 101 strives for excellence in our programming by providing children with outstanding coaches who serve as role models and leaders to our kids. We want kids coming home after each program enjoying their time with their friends and learning about proper values of being a good sport and teammate. This program is open to both boys and girls. Come and play like a champion!

MAKER SPACE 2 (Gr. 3&4) Tuesdays 3:15-5:15 LOCATION: Learning Commons INSTRUCTOR: Ms. Duggan DATES: 3/21, 3/28, 4/4, 4/11, 4/25 MAX ENROLLMENT: 20 FEE: $99 for 5 weeks Come join us for afterschool Maker Space. Create, invent, tinker, explore and have fun! Students will have the opportunity to explore being a builder, artist, crafter, engineer, designer or programmer. This program will involve coding, designing games, building, tinkering and just having fun! Be sure to bring your imagination.

REGISTRATION - The appropriate course fee must be paid with a registration form. Checks should be made payable to Wakefield Academy and returned

to the school office. Please note REGISTRATIONS ARE DUE THE FRIDAY PRIOR TO THE START OF THE PROGRAM. ENROLLMENT - Based on a first-come, first-served basis. STUDENTS WILL ONLY BE NOTIFIED IF A CLASS IS FULL OR CANCELLED. Class rosters will be given to the instructors. INSUFFCIENT ENROLLMENT - In the event a class does not reach full enrollment, Wakefield Academy reserves the right to cancel it. Notification will be given and checks returned. OVER ENROLLMENT - In the event the course selected exceeds the enrollment limit when the registration forms and checks are received, you will be notified and your check will be returned. CANCELLATIONS - If the Wakefield Public Schools are closed, Enrichment classes will not be held. If the weather worsens as the day progresses, an announcement will be made in school to cancel Enrichment classes. Whenever possible we will make up the class missed. TRANSPORTATION - It is the parent’s responsibility to see that his/her child is picked up at the end of class. Please check class end time as they do vary. We reserve the right to charge a late fee for late pick up. ROOM ASSIGNMENTS - All students should meet in your school’s designated Wakefield Academy location at the end of the school day. REFUNDS - There will be no refunds once a class has started. Any refund requests must be made to the Director. DISCIPLINE - Wakefield Academy takes pride in offering boys and girls worthwhile and interesting activities. Parents should review proper school conduct and the Anti-Bullying Rules with their child at home. In the event a child’s misbehavior disrupts a class or he/she is not following the school rules, his/her parent will be contacted with the appropriate action to be taken. We reserve the right to dismiss any student from participation in the program. Please review the Wakefield Academy Handbook for specific details on expectations for students. There will be no refunds when a student is dismissed from a program for disciplinary reasons. SNACKS -Water only. If you child needs to have a snack for medical reasons please contact the Site Coordinator to arrange.
