Year 6 Seesaw This week saw the exciting launch of a new pilot project in Year Six at TES - Seesaw! Thank you to everyone who attended the information evening and to those who are now successfully following their child's journal. Seesaw is an online journal where children publish their work and have the opportunity to engage in effective feedback with their peers, teachers and family members. Work is displayed in many ways, for example through video, photos, audio or annotations. In class during 'Seesaw O'Clock' children will initially explain work chosen by their teacher but will be encouraged to become better assessors of their own learning by choosing their own examples as the year progresses. Furthermore, all of the above will continue to make pupils more aware of their online behaviour and

by Mr. Thomas Mullins encourage family discussions regarding internet safety. Parents and extended family all over the world can request access to a child's journal thereby encouraging the development of a global learning community. Since its introduction to students just four weeks ago, we have already seen wonderful examples of children becoming more empowered in their learning and prouder of their work. We encourage parents and children to embrace this new opportunity in order to enable Seesaw to transform students learning!

International Peace Day
2
by Mr. Peter Sloan
st
Wednesday 21 September marks United Nations International Day of Peace. The day is marked all around the world and provides everyone with the opportunity ‘to come together, in spirit and in action, to forward the ideals of and conditions for peace’. Around the world millions of people will observe the day with many taking positive action to promote peace. At the Primary Campus we will be celebrating the day through forming a gigantic heart shape with all our children and staff. We would like all children to wear white at school on that day. We will also be talking with children about the meaning of the day.

In Search of ‘Deadly 60’ at Green World Ecological Farm

by Thuy Ho
Year 4 eagerly followed in the footsteps of Steve Backshall – the ‘Deadly 60’ animal expert – and encountered a range of deadly animals on their recent trip to Hsinchu. Our learning was brought alive through the close-up close up and personal experiences we had with so many interesting animals on our deadly d animal search. By visiting different environments, such as the desert land area and the rainforest area, we could link our understanding of how some animals can be perfectly adapted to their habitat. Here are some questions our Year 4 students shared on the trip. “Are porcupines mammals or reptiles?” “Why are sloths so slow?” “Are alpacas deadly? They do spit at you.” “Where is the chameleon? chameleon Why, can’t I see it?” What an inquisitive bunch!
