January 2017 Volunteer Spotlight-Double Header! Ellen Hutti and Rachel Rimmerman
Ellen Hutti
Rachel Rimmerman
This month’s volunteer spotlight highlights two of Casa’s administrative volunteers. Ellen Hutti and Rachel Rimmerman, played a crucial role during the month of January by overseeing the volunteer calendar while Ruth Vilches was in Argentina. Both Ellen and Rachel coordinated volunteer shifts, contacted volunteers to fill shifts, and adjusted the volunteer calendar as needed in order to ensure that the clinic ran smoothly during the month of January. Ellen is a sophomore at SLU and has been volunteering with Casa de Salud since October. Ellen says that, “I first heard about volunteering for Casa de Salud through my brother, who was a volunteer while he was in college. I really enjoy volunteering here because it gives me the opportunity to help others in my community and also see first-hand the benefits of access to good health care providers. Casa gives me the chance to explore my interests in the health care industry before I am able to begin my career.” Rachel Rimmerman started volunteering with Casa in December and quickly learned about Casa’s Volunteer Coordination Program. Rachel stated that, “I learned about Casa de Salud through colleagues working at Saint Louis University. After learning more about the services that Casa offers, its mission, and its contributions to the St. Louis community, I was instantly excited about an opportunity to volunteer. I have so far enjoyed getting to know the Casa de Salud staff and volunteers, as well as learn more about the organization and the breadth of the services it offers to its patients. I look forward to continuing to get more involved!”
Thank you Ellen and Rachel for your flexibility, hard work and eagerness to be a part of Casa’s team. We’re thankful for you!
